When i saw this skit in the early 80's my brother was reading half the German philosophers in this skit.At the time i had never heard of any of them. What made me spill my milk was Beckenbauer was a surprise starter and well just watch it all.Its only two minutes but the punchline still makes me split my gut.The linesmen were great selections also. The ref was a spot on choice.
Things of note
Broadcaster:But Confucius's yellow card to Nietzsche for accusing the ref
"of having no free will" was a bit much.Confucius obviously didn't want to loose control of the match so an early booking seemed on the surface necessary.
Broadcaster: "But Marxs thought the Greeks were offside!"
I have used that rare Gem and 9 of 10 people will have no idea of what the hell i am talking about. But that one person who does get the inside joke. What a laugh.

Flipping brilliant. I'd never seen this before, and I come from a large family of Python fans.
Ignorant people miss so much in life.
:-)
(And who would have thought that St. Augustus and St. Thomas Aquinas would wear such short shorts?)
Expect a link tomorrow.
(And of course I meant St. Augustine.) :-)
Laurie that skit makes me laugh like no other. Thanks for the kind words.
And yes only from the imaginations of Monty Python could Confuscious,St Augustine and Beckenbauer ever be in the same place at the same time.
