Week 30 in the Serie A one of late dramatics

The 30 th installment of the 08-09 Serie A season will be seen as a stunning day of comebacks and late finishes. AC Milan finished off savy Lecce as Philip Sendeross headed home the games winning goal off of a Andrea Pirlo set piece. Minutes later to compound Lecce's humiliation late substitution Andrei Shevchenko dribbled to the end line and sublimely chipped a perfectly weighted pass onto Bippo Inzagi who like Sendeross headed home to give Milan the 2 nil win.

In keeping up with the top three Genoa also won late, in very frustrating fashion for Roma fans.Genoa traveled to Calabria to play lowly Reggina and like all the games of the day scored in the 90th minute to steal three points and maintain fourth position in the table.Brazilian Thiago Motta scored dramatically to give Genoa the 1-0 win.

Fiorentina also scored late to give the Viola a 2-1 win over Atalanta. Alberto Gilardino's timely finish means Fiorentina keep pace with Genoa while maintaining their three point cushion over Roma. The three team race for the final Champions league spot has Genoa,Fiorentina and Roma fighting for one place with eight games remaining.

Roma also dramatically held on to a tough and game Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico winning 2-1.Francsco Totti scored both of Roma goals from the penalty spot.

So the Serie A saw many exciting and dramatic finishes today but no changes in the table.The top three remain entrenched with AC Milan having a chance to catch Juve while Inter have surely sewn up their fourth straight Scudetto.Barring a collapse of monumental proportions Inter have done it again. Genoa,Fiorentina and Roma will fight tooth and nail for the final Champions league spot that still has some life in it.With Fiorentina and Genoa continuing to win Roma will have to be flawless to steal the fourth and final place.
